To add to my post of July 2011, I find the annual performance review and appraisal at work quite helpful.
I have also started my CILIP Revalidation. It less onerous than Chartership, but it does still give a chance to reflect.
However I am not a fan of introspective navel-gazing!
In the NHS we have clinical audits, where we set standards, and then evaluate practice against that standard. This could be applied to an individual, and is similar to Greenway’s model of plan, do and review.
